Proceed with Caution

There are different mistakes in career planning. You don’t want to make mistakes that will waste your time and sidetrack your plans for the future. Make sure you don’t get into your own way. Here are some missteps that happen when planning a career plan.

  1. Saying “I can’t” is one of the biggest mistakes that any student can make. It is taking for granted that a prospective career path is beyond reach. You can always do something as long as you set your mind on it and if you are will to work had for it! While you are in high school and college it is a good ideal to try out new subjects.

  2. Getting dollar signs in your eyes. When you are thinking about the possible career, salary should be one of the main things that you really consider. The salary now is so high you might be thinking about getting a different career path then your dreams so you can have enough money for your career.

  3. Doing what your parents expect-or what you think they expect. You should respect your parents’ opinions and listen to their opinions. Your parents are just trying to look out for you also they might just want you to be successful. Sometimes your parents expect too much from you. As for me my parents expect me to play college sports and they also want me to be successful in the career that I’m going to pursue in.

  4. Assuming a job won’t be useful in building experience. Be open to all work experiences. At this point in your life, you’ll learn more about what you want by figuring out what you don’t want in a career plan. Don’t worry if the experience has little to do with your goals.

  5. Going it alone. Family members, teachers, coaches, etc. can help you provide career guidance or help you in different ways like confidence, encouragement. The more they give you help, confidence, encouragement you might have a good career that you will like.
